How does papertail work?

papertail connects to your checking account via Plaid and sends you a push notification every time a new transaction is detected. The notification shows your remaining balance, daily burn rate, and countdown to payday.

How much does it cost?

$9.99/year with a 7-day free trial. You connect your bank first, then decide if you want to subscribe.

What banks are supported?

papertail uses Plaid to connect to your bank. Plaid supports over 12,000 financial institutions in the US. Most major banks and credit unions are supported.

Can I share with my partner?

Yes. Go to Settings → Share with Partner to generate a 6-character code. Your partner installs papertail, enters the code, and starts receiving the same notifications. No extra bank connection needed, no extra cost.

How do I disconnect my bank?

Open the app → Settings → Disconnect Bank. This removes your Plaid connection and deletes all your data.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Cancel through your App Store (iOS) or Play Store (Android) subscription settings. papertail does not process payments directly.

Is my data safe?

papertail connects to your bank through Plaid, the same service used by Venmo, Robinhood, and Coinbase. Your bank credentials are never stored on our servers. Transaction data is encrypted at rest. We don’t use analytics, advertising, or tracking. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Why am I not getting notifications?

  1. Check that notifications are enabled for papertail in your device settings
  2. Make sure you have an active internet connection
  3. Verify your bank connection is active in the app
  4. If using “daily” notification frequency, notifications arrive once per day at your configured time

My bank connection stopped working

Banks occasionally require re-authentication. When this happens, you’ll receive a notification: “Bank connection needs attention.” Open the app and follow the prompts to reconnect.
